Yes, solar and wind has a Intermittency problem and the current solution of using peaking plants makes them less green than one would expect.

I would argue that a wiser solution is in energy storage not nuclear because the nuclear waste problem also makes nuclear power less green than one might expect.

Nuclear also has the additional problems of catastrophic meltdown: Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, Fukushima, etc.
