I agree with the sentiment. The key question is how. And the how must be based on an accurate understanding of their motivations. Only then, will our actions be _received_ as being from love, not just being self-deluded as being given from love.

From reading their social media posts, what I could surmise is that they are motivated by two issues:

1. Economic insecurities and the coziness of Washington political elites with giant corporations and billionaires who exploit them. Trump took advantage of this with the slogan “drain the swamp”. Bernie tried to address the same concern with the policies of taxing the mega wealthy and Medicare for all to avoid medical bankruptcies. Mainstream Democrats have no answer to this.

2. Condescending coastal urban liberals who look down on them, or worse, who try to “help” by imposing their world view and priorities. Again, Trump took advantage of this hatred and desire to “own the libs” while mainstream Democrats just double down on seeing them as “deplorables”.

Given these two key motivations — they are of course others, but my take is that these two are the most significant ones that can be easily addressed — I would say that thinking of them as stupid and trying to “re-educate” them will be highly unlikely to work.

Instead, we need to address rural, small town, working class and lower middle class economic insecurities. The oil companies and the climate deniers know to do it by messaging that they will create jobs. That is a seductive lie. The real way is what Roosevelt did in the New Deal. But this time round, a Green New Deal that will invest and create jobs to foster cleaner energy and local self-empowerment. And the multi-billionaires can easily afford to pay a few percentage points more in taxes to fund it, especially since we know, like Trump, they pay next to zero in taxes.

And we need to stop the us/them blue/red either/or mindset. The 99.9% are all victims of the 0.1%. The Koch brothers of the world are the ones pulling the strings, beggaring their neighbors to enrich themselves. And the politicians from both parties are their handmaidens. They control us through the age old ploy of divide and rule. That’s why we are trained to fight over Colored/White Left/Right Pro-life/Pro-choice. Only when we are fighting each other to the death could they loot and Rob us in broad daylight with the strokes of the pen.

A Biden presidency will not do the right thing. It’s too enmeshed in the same old Wasington swamp.

A true response from love means we unite and partner with all 99.9% as equals to fight for a green and equitable future for everyone.

But how many would do this instead of virtue signaling?
